Nick O’Neill

Executive Director and Board President

Nick co-founded 2nd Street Hooligans Rescue with his wife, Rachael. He has always felt a deep connection with animals and has found a true sense of comfort around them. The more he learned about all species of animals, especially farm animals, the more he wanted to create a safe space where he could provide sanctuary for the misunderstood and mistreated. Nick serves as Board President and Executive Director and is the main animal caretaker for the 2nd Street Hooligans residents.

Rachael O’Neill

Executive Director and Board Treasurer

Rachael is co-founder and Executive Director of 2nd Street Hooligans Rescue. She has always had a love of nature and an especially soft spot for animals. She was moved to adopt a vegan lifestyle to be in alignment with her desire to address environmental concerns and her belief in not harming animals for personal gain. She was inspired to create an animal sanctuary to help instill in others the belief that all animals are worthy of love, compassion and kindness. Rachael also serves as Board Treasurer and is an integral part of the daily operations at the sanctuary.

Danette Godinez

Board Vice President and Volunteer Coordinator

Danette has always had a love for animals and found her passion in 2011 when she learned of the atrocities of animal agriculture. Since then, she has devoted herself to living a vegan and cruelty free life and volunteering as often as she can. She has volunteered for several rescue organizations, fostered many dogs, and protested at the circus, dairy farms, and slaughter houses. She volunteered and participated in the National Animal Rights Day for several years and was a vital part of their animal team. After serving as volunteer coordinator, Danette took on the role of Board Vice President in 2023. She feels very fortunate to be around people who share her values, and animals she can share her love with.
