She was inspired to create an animal sanctuary to help instill in others the belief that all animals are worthy of love, compassion and kindness. Since then, she has devoted herself to living a vegan and cruelty free life and volunteering as often as she can. She has volunteered for several rescue organizations, fostered many dogs, and protested at the circus, dairy farms, and slaughter houses. She volunteered and participated in the National Animal Rights Day for several years and was a vital part of their animal team. After serving as volunteer coordinator, Danette took on the role of Board Vice President in 2023.
